World Wide Sires UK showcase leading health and fitness traits
Four bulls that transmit excellent health and fitness traits to their daughters were among the star performers from World Wide Sires UK’s portfolio of leading Holsteins in the latest bull proofs.
The leading supplier of elite genetics to UK farmers saw new release Pirolo Goldwyn Wyman, a Goldwyn and Oman cross son, make an impressive proof debut – having excellent lifespan, conformation and solid production.
The company’s proven bulls Lirr Drew Dempsey and Glen Valley BW Captain also continued to showcase the excellent performance seen in previous proofs, moving up trait rankings for fertility, lifespan, fat and protein.
• New release sire, Pirolo Goldwyn Wyman transmits excellent management traits including -23 for cell counts, and +0.3 for lifespan. His 89 daughters are milking in 64 herds and have demonstrated a milk score of +233kgs with +0.16% fat and +0.09% protein.
• Lirr Drew Dempsey is the number one bull in Canada with 2558 LPI and comes from an exceptional family of six generations of VG or EX cows, five of them being EX and demonstrating both strength and power. As a Goldwyn son, he transmits high daughter fertility +2.7, low cells -23 and with high type +2.89 he breeds heifers with wide rumps, superb feet and legs +2.62 and excellent udders +2.37.
• With over 5,000 daughters now in production, Glen Valley BW Captain’s milk score rose to +375kgs with +14.8kgs fat and +11.2 kgs protein. Glen showed improvement on conformation with an excellent type merit of +2.47 TM, mammary composite of +2.45 and a feet and legs composite of +1.83. His daughters demonstrate excellent rump width, superb rear udders and a balanced linear.
• Another new release Goldwyn son, Toc-Farm Goldfish, is full brother to Goldsun, son of twice Italian National Champion Toc-Farm Allen Amyly EX95 and descendant of the prestigious Canadian foundation cow Sunnylodge Prelude Spottie VG87. Goldfish has more than 90 daughters on his production proof and over 60 on his type proof and traits are strongly influenced by his maternal pedigree. He shows excellent type +2.94TM, udder composition +2.58, feet and legs +2.61 and positive components +0.01% fat and 0.02% protein.
