World Wide Sires UK announced this week supplies of world-renowned Holstein bull Mesland Duplex are being maintained at the current list price until April but confirm supplies are being restricted to a maximum of 20 units per order owing to world-wide demand.
Demand for the bull is set to further increase and any new stock will be available at an increased price according to World Wide Sires Sales Director John Cochrane. ?Supplies of Duplex are extremely tight and we're maintaining his current price while stocks last. The price is expected to further increase following publication of the April 2009 evaluation-run.
"Duplex is recognised as being one of the greatest bulls of his generation and the bull's international reputation continues to soar owing to the consistency of his breeding-pattern. UK farmers are delighted with the performance of their milking Duplex daughters, his consistent high type pattern and the super quality of his udders. The bull's UK daughters are averaging over 90% Good Plus and Better and reports on his progeny are extremely positive," he says.
Duplex has a phenomenal January 2009 Holstein UK proof offering +3.31 Type Merit ratings; +2.92 Mammary and +2.97 Legs and Feet, +2.93 on Rear Udder height, + 3.05 Rump width, + 3.13 Body depth and offers +3.24 on Locomotion score as well as a PLI of £110. The level consistency of his UK daughters is emphasised as a result of having 40% of his 261 UK daughters scored Very Good.
The bull, a son of Regancrest Elton Durham, has been tested on an international-basis and his proof has also been mirrored through the Canadian evaluation system. Duplex offers January 2009 Canadian ratings of +17 Conformation score; +11 Mammary, +13 Feet and Legs, +10 Rump, +11 Medial suspensory and +16 Dairy strength. His 82 Canadian scored daughters averaged over 90% Good Plus and Better with 35% being scored Very Good according to John Cochrane.
"Duplex has added a further 20 scored heifers during the past month and has maintained his 90% Good Plus and Better ratings on 102 classified animals in Canada. The bull combines two of the world?s greatest female lines, the Dellia and the Marci families, and his proof is a reflection of the strength and depth of breeding in his pedigree.
"The price of dairy replacement animals is probably at an all-time high and Duplex progeny are at a premium value. Farmers are constantly looking to increase their asset-value and securing supply of Duplex will provide a future opportunity to receive an optimum return on their investment. This is the last chance to secure supply at the current price level and orders are available on a first-come-first-served-basis," he concluded.
